Dr Faisal Ghani is the founder and CEO of SolarisKit Ltd, a cleantech company based in Dundee that has developed the world’s first flat-packed, self-assembled solar thermal collector. SolarisKit is on a mission to unlock the vastly untapped potential of solar energy to meet global heating needs, the single largest source of energy related greenhouse gas emissions. Faisal is a chartered mechanical engineer with a PhD specialising in solar thermal technology. As the founder of a cleantech company, Faisal has raised venture funding from both dilutive and non-dilutive sources. With the latter, Faisal has successfully won grant funding from Innovate UK, the Royal Society of Edinburgh, and Scottish Enterprise. Faisal is a previous enterprise fellow from the Royal Society of Edinburgh, winner of Scotland’s Converge Challenge Impact category in 2019 and was awarded the Scottish Edge Net Zero Edge prize at COP26 in Glasgow in 2021.
